Nexim does not do the job for me. I still have pretty bad reflux. Have increased my dose from 40 to 80 mg. on an empty stomache like described, but still have a raw throat. I was wondering if aciphex might be better?? Is is pretty much the same as nexium??

No one proton pump inhibitor is better than any other one. You need to find what works for you.

I'd agree - start trying the other PPIs. You can also drink a few teaspoons of an antacid like Mylanta a few times a day.

Are you on any other medications, that could possibly be worsening reflux. And even more importantly, do you exercise, and if you do, have you been doing any exercises that involve crunching the stomach? Physically crunching the stomach will bring on bad reflux, even when on PPIs. Personal experience here. Stopping the crunching makes the reflux go away. you won't have abs of steel, but it's better than feeling sick.
