babygirl224 03-26-2006, 07:15 AM My dd is almost 6 months and she is teething terribly. No teeth have broken the skin yet but she is drooling like crazy and she chews everything in sight. When I picked her up from daycare on Friday then sent me home with a teether that she seems to enjoy. All the other frozen ones I bought she has not interest in. Now she has a terrible runny nose too. I think this is from the teething too or maybe not.
What are some other symptoms of teething? She also has not been slepping. She wakes up every hour or so whining and goes right back to sleep.
I have also been giving her orajel (which she hates) and tylenol. Does anyone else have any other suggestions what I can do to make her feel better. I feel so bad for her.
Kiedy 03-26-2006, 11:31 AM My son didn't like anything either. Tylanol was the only thing that helped and breastfeeding a lot. It finally passed after hard 3wks. Unfortunatly time is the best medicine.
Maxx09 03-26-2006, 03:07 PM My baby will be 6 mos Apilr 6 and she just cut her 2 bottom teeth. She is very conjested and I actually took her to the doc for it. He says it's because of the teething. He did prescribe her Carbatuss for it. My friend's little girl is breaking like 4 teeth at one time and what really seems to work for her is the teething tablets. You put them in their mouth and they instantly dissolve-they're also all natural. My babies have all hated orajel. Have you used it before? I have and I hated it too. It almost kind of burns with the numbing if that makes any sense. I would check and see if you could find the tablets-they've worked for everyone I know who's tried them. Good luck!!
shelliam 03-26-2006, 08:42 PM DD is a bit older but if you have introduced fruits you can do this. I give DD a little mesh bag for introducing solids. I put a can of pears in the fridge until the get nice and cool then give her a piece in the bag. She loves it and its good for her unlike medications. Bananas work really well but give DD a rash.Otherwise we have done graham crackers an orange and an apple. poor DD is getting in 4 teeth right now too.
emilyallison 03-26-2006, 10:00 PM My DS and I both love Hylands teething tablets. They are homeopathic and work like magic!
babygirl224 03-26-2006, 10:13 PM Maxx - Do you know where I can get these tablets or what they are called. I have heard of them. My dd is alsom conjested. Her nose is so stuffy that it's hard for her to take a bottle because she can't breathe. She also keeps waking up during the night. I put some vicks on her tonight before she went to bed so I hope that helps her.
Shelia - Are you talking about the mesh thing that kind of looks like a paicifier. I remember seeing something like that a while back but I do not remember where. Also, r u putting plain fruit with syrup or lite syrup. Can you also use plain chilled fruit?
Thanks. I feel so bad for Danielle. :(

I just bought the Hyland teething tablets yesterday for my soon to be 6 mth old. He has two teeth at the moment and working on more. I got mine at Walgreens (drug store) in the Baby section. I looked everywhere for them before asking the pharmacist. They also have Colic tablets and their own version of Gripe water.
I also have the mesh paci type thing. I put a piece of frozen banana in it and ds won't let you have it back he loves it so much. It's really messy though.

They don't have a Walgreens around here but I will try CVS.
Do remember where you got that mesch thing? I'd rather her be a mess than pain. Thanks. I am also going to try and find those tablets. Did they work on your son? What do they do exactly.
babygirl224 03-27-2006, 01:57 PM I found the tablets and they worked. I'm still looking for the mesch bag.
MissT 03-27-2006, 03:37 PM They have them at walmart and Babys R Us. I've gotten some at both places.
friday13 03-27-2006, 06:08 PM My friend uses childrens motrin - works like a dream she says... baby sleeps and all is good. Also you can try frozen pancakes - I hear they work well too - my babe isn't teething yet and I am not looking forward to that.
shelliam 03-28-2006, 01:48 PM I got my mesh bags at meijer or babies r us. I have seen them in catalogs too. These are from sassy and are easy to clean and stay closed well. I don't put anything with syrup. I use mostly fresh fruit but the canned pears have a texture that doesn't disinagrate after a minute. I remember putting peeled grapes in DS's and that worked well too.
friendofD 03-29-2006, 05:55 PM Humphreys is another good teething tablet if you can't find hylands...also natural!!

I swear by teething tablets. I tried everything when my son was teething and nothing helped. I tried the teething tablets and never used anything other than those ever again.

You can find the mesh feeders/bags at Target, Toys R Us, Walmart, etc. Or try doing a google search.
babygirl224 04-01-2006, 07:07 PM I bought the mesh feeding bag. I just have to get some fresh fruit to put in there. DD has an ear infection so she has been even more miserable but I did get the ok from the DR. today to let her start with Motrin since she is almost 6 months. I still don't see any teeth breaking through the skin though.
roxyfoxy 04-02-2006, 08:52 AM I am going crazy with the teething as well. DS is 4.5 months old and at night he is miserable! Tylenol doesn't even do the trick. I can't get him to chew on much of anything for too long. He chews for a minute then screams his head off. I finally got him calmed down at about 4am. He cried last night from 5pm until about then. The doctor said the teeth should be in soon, but I am going nutts!! Two teeth at once and he is letting me know it hurts!
rouge 04-02-2006, 10:46 AM My son was a very very cranky teether. He refused to chew on anything! We tried the teething tablets and they did not work at all. Plus I was told there is an ingredient in them that women used to use to dilate their eyes (not sure why anyone would want to do that).
Anyway, time was basically the only thing that got us through. At night I would use Motrin. It was the only thing that would get any of us any sleep.
We never did try gripe water. I have heard others say that it worked.
roxyfoxy 04-02-2006, 10:28 PM How long does it take for them to come in? He's been a mess the past 3 days, but still no teeth. I am going crazy.
