I used to be on the NuvaRing but had to take it out due to a coning procedure done on my cervix due to CINIII. Anyway, I started on Yasmin 2 weeks ago & have been having sore breasts that feel very lumpy & painful. They have also gotten bigger, kind of like when you are breastfeeding & miss a feeding. I am NOT breastfeeding at this time & haven't done so in almost 7 years, so that is not the issue.
I have already mentioned the sore, enlarged breasts to my GYN & he said that as long as it doesn't really bother me, than it is ok. Well, are there any other alternatives to Yasmin? I didn't do well on Ortho (any of them) or the Patch. So far, Nuvaring was the best, but that will have to wait a couple of months until my cervix is fully healed. My Dr. did mention Essence (sp?) which is a permanent birth control where they put in fuzzy tubing to block your fallopian tubes which creates scar tissue.
I'm not sure I want to go that route. My thinking is that if one day I need a hysterectomy due to other gyn problems, what is the point? Anyway, I sure would appreciate any input. Thanks.

The breast tenderness and soreness usually subsides after a few full cycles, so you may just want to consider sticking it out.
If not, there are literally dozens of different brands of birth control. You could try one that is not like the Ortho products or like Yasmin. There is also the IUD, Norplant, or you could consider a tubal ligation.

Thanks for your response. I guess I will just have to research all the different brands in case I want to switch. I will stick it out with the Yasmin for a couple more cycles to see if my body adjusts. If not, I will ask to try something different. Thanks!

Hi KitKat! I am on Yasmin I had many problems with it in the begining but my doc asked me to try it for a couple more months and start taking it at night and I am doing great on it now. No problems at all.

Hiya lovethocurls! That gives me hope! I wonder if taking it at night makes a difference vs. taking it in the morning. Anyway, thanks for your input. Hope you are doing all right!

i just got on yasmin 3 weeks ago... and i actually was starting to think i was pregnant because my breasts were very sore and growing. ( the first sign when i was pregnant with my son)
I didnt even think it was because of the pill...( duh!?!)

When I first started Yasmin my boobs got bigger and sore. I didn't mind that they were sore because they were bigger...lol. After a couple months that cool side effect went away

LMBO! My boobs are popping out, so they're going to shrink? <Sigh> Oh well, thanks for the advance warning. I was kinda hoping they'd stay bigger. It reminds me of the good ol' days when I used to have full perky breasts. That all changed after 2 pregnancies & breastfeeding.
Anyway, I guess this is a common side effect on Yasmin! Thanks you guys for all your input! :D
