I have been told that if you win your SSDI case, you'll be up for review after so long a time. I received my Award letter and nothing was mentioned about if and when I would be up for review. Anybody know?

I turned 55 a moth later they said I was advanced age.and would need simple no stres type of job but there were not many where I lived..So he went on to say He approved me..I hadn't heard anything about.. having to go back after a few years,,God Bless..Kim OrthpdcNrs 03-29-2006, 10:30 PM It is usually 2 years after you are awarded. Thats how it was for my husband. He is 33 and has had 2 open heart surgeries and is now in Congestive Heart Failure.......good luck cherry1952 03-29-2006, 10:36 PM You will receive (I did) a booklet that will tell you when you can expect to have a reevaluation. They said I should receive mine in 5-7 years. There is usually three different criteria used 1. Likely to improve.....Reevaluation 6-18 months after approval 2. improvement possible .........reeval after 3 years 3. improvement not likely.....reeval 5-7 years this is what the information they sent me said anyway..I did not receive it until about 2 months after receiving my back pay...Just got it last week steve1950 03-30-2006, 10:54 AM Thank ya'll for your replies. I'll just sit back and wait. HisKid1973 03-30-2006, 02:58 PM You will receive (I did) a booklet that will tell you when you can expect to have a reevaluation. I have been on it about a year and a half, i had to go to a hearing before an administative law judge before i got it. Does that mean they'll probably take it away when they review my case. Also i don't understand how they can take it away b/c my CP will never go away or improve., the CP itself may not get any worse but it never get any better either. I was also thinking of getting a part time job about 3-4 hours a day , like at tops bagging groceries or doing some office cleaning or some real light work like that but am so afraid SS will say if u can work 4 hours a day you are not disabled. I was also told that if u are on medication for depression or have any other form of mental illness they cannot take it away from you even if you did work a little. thank you, Ken |
