Hi, I am new to this board and would like some input on RLS. I was researching insomnia and ran into this disorder and it seems to be what I am experiencing.
Some background information: I have had these symptoms since I was younger. The symptoms would subside for months or years and would return periodically. I am currently 25, and i seem to have had the worst case yet. I have been experiencing the symptoms for over a month now. It is especially bad tonight.
I understand that RLS usually affects the legs, but my symptoms seem to be affecting my arms and torso. Does RLS necessarily have to affect the legs? Taking hot baths seem to help. I also read that taking iron supplements could help? Are there any other suggestions? This is driving me crazy. Thanks

Julius,
That's a long time to suffer with RLS. Yes, it can affect other parts of your body besides your legs. It's important that you get a diagnosis before starting something like iron supplements. There's plenty of prescription and non-prescription remedies for RLS but if you just mask the symptoms with some home remedy, you might miss the underlying cause. RLS is really tricky. It can be a neurological disorder, or it can be brought on by certain types of anemia. Sometimes no cause can be found, but it's important to rule out serious causes with your doctor first.
