Would it be better to take aciphex at night or in the morning?? I have reflux all day but my main problem is at night. Also, I know you are supposed to take nexium on an empty stomache, but it says aciphex can be take with food. Is it more or less effective taken on an empty stomache?

I was prescibed that, and supposed to take it in the morning. Let me know how you do with it, It was hard with the side affects, mainly dryness, and tiredness.I think 30 minutes before a meal. Good luck, Dana

Tiredness...just what I need...I already have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Well, I'll cross my fingers. Nexium just stopped working for me and I am afraid of the damage the acid is doing to my esophagus.

Hi Natalie,
Have you had an endoscopy? With the chronic fatigue how do you tolerate Nexium? Are you med sensitive? I think we are similar. I have the fatigue, with pernicous anemia and must take b12 every 6 weeks. Let me know what happens with the aciphex. How long have you had reflux? Take care, Dana

Natalie,
I've also had problems with PPIs losing effectiveness. I'm told that you can build a tolerance for the drugs, however this tolerance is temporary. Therefore, after a month or so you can go back to the original drug that worked for you. That's what I'm hoping for as Prevacid worked really well for months until recently.

I've been taking it in the evening and in the morning. It dries me out and I'm drinking tons of water but still getting constipated. Yuck.

Hello,
Yes, I had several endoscopies and a colonoscopy years ago (endos 5-6 years, colon 2 years). All checked out OK. I developed reflux and had that god awful wire down the nose for 24 hours test done, and it showed mild/moderate reflux. But that was about 7 years ago. I suffered from bulimia for years so I am sure that is what caused the reflux.
My CFS is very bad and I am on all sorts of supplements. I took nexium for year before I got CFS and it never seemed to make me tired.
THanks for the reply

Dana-
Have you been diagnosed with CFS?? So far, the supplements have not helped. I am sure it is going to take a good 6 months before I see any improvement. I also have hypothyrodism, which most people with CFS have, and candida, which is also something many people with CFS have but go undiagnosed. Right now, I think all the pills and vitamins are making me more tired!

Did you get treatment for the candida?? I just started diflucan and have to take it for 3 months. I go to a place called the Fibro and Fatigue Center. They have prescribed me all sorts of supplements, and thyroid meds + testosterone creame. After only 4 years of BC pills, my hormones were totally screwed up, my testosterone was very low, and my sex hormone binding gobulin (sp?) through the roof. And I'm only 22, so who knows what I will do for contraceptive purposes in the future. No,I don't work and couldn't, anyways. I had to drop out of college for almost 2 years now. I'll be lucky if get my associates degree before I'm 30, at this rate. My life seems pretty pointless and purposeless right now.
