When i saw my doctor a while ago, she put me on meds. she said she'd give me 20MG to start off with n that I should go back and see her and she may put me on 60MG. These 20MG ones aren't doing much different..do u think I should go back and see what she says? My doctor is in the UK..I am returnin to the UK for a mini holiday for 10 days......what should I do? Would it make a difference increasing the dose? (That may seem a dumb q)

Well, it depends what meds you're on and how long you've been on them. Most anti-depressants/anti-anxiety take about 3 to 6 weeks to take effect, so if you've only been on 20mgs of whatever med you're on for a few days or even a week, then I'd say that you won't notice much difference for a while yet.
Secondly, I think 20 to 60mgs is a HUGE jump. I went from 20 to 40 of Celexa and my body is still suffering from some of the side effects. Better to go from 20 to 30 or 40 first and work your way up.

I haven't been on them for that long. However...my doctor said to see her 2 weeks after taking them...has now been over a month...she was gonna increase after 2 weeks possibly. What side effects did u suffer from?
Thanks for ur reply

Hey, Caroline.
20mgs of Celexa did nothing for me, either. But like writerboybc said, jumping from 20mgs to 60mgs is quite extreme!
I was put onto 30mgs next, which was then increased to 40mgs. Finally on that amount I started getting some relief! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif
If you've been on Celexa for over a month now, it probably is time to take action. Speek to your doctor about it - whether you have to up the dose or change to another med.
I also experienced many side effects, which weren't all that pleasent! So please be careful about going up too much in one go.
All the best!

What side effects? Well, the most noticable one is that I have no sex drive at all. I also tend to get motion sickness fairly easily, I get occasional headaches and a dry mouth. But, except for the sex thing, the side effects aren't so bad anymore.
And I agree that, if you've been on for a month, you should see a doctor to increase your dose, but try going to 30 or 40. The jump from 20 to 60 will send your body into some sometimes severe side effects.
