How come I never see vomiting listed as a symptoms of GERD? When I got GERD at 15, it was my only symptom (and I think it took me a long itme to be diagnosed because of that), and I had no idea vomiting was every associated with GERD. My peds GI doctor informed me it's a common symptom in children- though I didn't expect I would have pediatric symptoms at the age of 15.

Now that I am 20 I have mild heartburn occassionally, but vomiting is still my main symptom. Anyone else?

YES!

I am not 100% sure this is a GERD problem, but PRETTY sure it is...I think I am having pretty bad night reflux, because I wwake up every morning feeling like I need to gag and usually throw up! then it usually goes away during the day. I also have throat tightness and discomfort and I feel like something sharp is stuck in my throat all the time.

Anyway, I have been throwing up in the morning off and on for months. I don't have an appointment with an upper GI person until May, so until then I'm trying Prilosec OTC.

I do take nexium for heartburn, but I may call the dr and see if I can raise the dose.

It is funny........I never feel sick before I go to bed. This just wakes me up from a dead sleep and after I am done......well, I just head right back to bed.

Thanks for your help and I hope you feel better soon.

This is probably about my worst symptom right now. Nausea. Ugh!! Wish I could vomit. Can't remember last day I woke up and didnt feel like heaving as soon as I moved about. I am drinking flat ginger ale right now and its helping a bit. I have anti nausea medication but it says can only be used short time - 5 days!!!!. Little point using it if its not a long term solution.

If I lie still in bed a while it calms down a little but I cant live in bed forever!

I wondered if when nausea is this bad ie. day after day, week after week sometimes all day, this is an indication of what the diagnosis might be other than GERD. I am awaiting endoscopy.

I just got back from an ENT doc, I went to him with my gagging/vomiting every morning problem. He numbed my nose, stuck a camera up it and down my throat, and the diagnosis - GERD. Actually, the only thing he could think of because everything looked fine. So, he gave me a prescription for Nexium and told me to come back in a month! Hopefully it will help....
