Hi everyone! I am new to this board. I am looking for some support. I have had Chronic Depression almost my entire life. I have never told anyone up until last week. I finally got the courage to see my Doc about it. I am on Paxil right now, but I am going through a really bad episode. I also need to tell my husband when he comes back from being away. God. Can anyone relate or help me?
Thanks for listening

Meds alone will not do the trick. Try to talk to a therapist. Even when the Paxil kicks in, you will need to face whatever issues are getting you depressed.

Well, yeah, but you don't necessarily have to have reasons, especially with dysthimia. The tricky part in that one is that you're depressed for so long that some elements of it become rather ingrained in your personality and habits, so it wont go away with just meds. Read up on it - there's lot of books about it out there. "More Than Moody" is fairly readable, though it's geared towards parents of teenagers.
