What are some of the first signs of walking? My DD is 9 months old now and she is swatting after standing at the table etc.....she gets on her knees and will stay like that unassisted.....but this is my first and I would like to hear from others as to what their children did before they started walking. I know that every baby is different - but it's fun to hear and then watch.....
Thanks!

With mine it started out as pulling up. Then crusing while holding onto the furniture. Then a constant want to be "walked" EVERYWHERE while holding onto their hands. Then 1 or 2 steps between parents. And from there they just get more and more brave until the number of steps increases. DD is now taking up to 20 steps as she teeters off down the hall. I figure another week or so and she'll be totally on her own. It's so much fun to see their drunk little walks. DS always looked like Frankenstein with his arms out infront of him :)

My DD started out by pulling herself up by the couch, and then she held on to the coushins while she walked sideways back and forth. Then she would walk between my DH and I, and each time we moved a little farther apart. And then she would walk super fast between the couch and the entertainment center, which was about 15 steps, and then would crash once she got there. My DS is 9 months old now, and we have been standing him up on the table and letting him put all his weight on his legs, and trying to walk him from one end to the other, which he likes, but the poor thing get's so tired by the time we reach the other end!

DD loves to walk holding hands. She is 9 1/2 months and start really cruising recently. I get nervous and clear paths if she and DS has any toys out.She also tries to just stand on her own.

Holding hands walking... DS 9 months. DD 10.5 months.
They both started taking their independant first steps right around their 1st birthdays.

With my son, it all happened fairly quickly. He started crawling around 7 months. Within 2-3 weeks after that, he started pulling up on things. About a month after that, he would walk with assistance or using push-toys. He then learned how to stand on his own, without holding onto anything, but wouldn't take a step to save his life! :P
Around 10 months old he took his first few steps, but wasn't "walking" well until a week before his 1st bday. :)
