Hi, I am new here, and i started on zoloft 2 months ago, and went from 50, now im at 100 mg. I luckily have not experiened severe sde effects except my sleeping - i am very tired lots of time, and at night i cant sleep. im tired, but i dont sleep. sometimes i wake up early like at 7:30, and other times at 10:30. and i fall asleep without too much trouble sometimes but others im up for hours.

Another thing - I am so afraid to gain weight. I am a pretty athletic girl, age 15, 5'7, 130 lbs. and im considered normal/slim, but every since i started on zoloft ive been craving food, snacks, ice cream, pasta, anything. especially when im watching TV or online, and I am already full, I snack a lot, and I try to be careful but I usually end up having the equivalent of 2/3 dinners(with the amount i eat after dinner.) I can hardly bring myself to brush my teeth early than like 9 PM. I may have gained 1/2 pounds at most, but I feel(and see) my stomach and lovehandles ballooning, emerging, flabbing. what should i do??? did anyone else have this?

It is definitely helping my depression/mood though.
thanks

I was on Zoloft for about 2 months and had just about every side effect in the book - it made me really sick - but I never had anything food related, besides the nausea side effect. Weight gain isn't one of the listed side effects, though it is for SSRI's in general. If it really bugs you, ask your psychiatrist if you can switch to Wellbutrin, which actually has weight loss as a side effect for some. Keep in mind though that, as crazy as it sounds, anorexia is a listed possible side effect of SSRI's, so if you're not actually gaining anything pounds-wise, don't worry about it too much.
