I am now taking the over the counter med Prilosec, it says on the info inside taking it for more than two weeks at a time without a break can cause some form of stomach cancer. I need it all the time...
Would it not be the same with all these meds, Nexium etc.?
What's the deal with that? Now I have to worry about getting cancer from treating my reflux?
Thank you for any advise, in advance!

i'm not sure but it seems like it's a warning to see your doctor if your symptoms persist just like warnings on other over the counter medications.

I agree with tape, it's likely telling you that untreated GERD can lead to BArrett's, which puts you at an increased risk for certain cancers. Prilosec OTC is very similar to other PPIs (just weaker). Most PPIs are recommended for no more than 4-8 weeks because the drug companies haven't studied their longterm effects.
