My counsler told me I should check out some anti-depressents from my doctor. The Dr. took some blood and a gave me a month supply of Zoloft. He calls the next day and says everything looks clear on the blood test and he doesnt see a reason for deppression. Can they tell if your depressed by your blood?

I get really about things that happened in the past and its hard to let things go.I get really hyper sometimes too. Then I get nervous and it happens over and over.Everyone has always thought Ive been depressed.

What are the side effects of Depicoat?(Spelling) someone told me weight gain and it makes you sleep alot.Any others?

Hi there,

What they can tell from blood tests is whether your thyroid is off or you're anemic. Maybe they can check seratonin levels now too, but not sure how common that is. Anyway, your doc would have ruled out possible physical causes for depression.

So, people have told you for a long time that you seem depressed? You also feel that you get hyper, and I see you mentioned Depakote. Do you think you might be bipolar?

I'm guessing this was your regular doctor, and not a psychiatrist? You might want to also see a psychiatrist, mainly because they know meds and mental health very well as they specialize in it. How did Depakote come up?

Hello.

Normally, when blood is taken for depressive symptoms as far as I know it is normally the thyroid that is tested. Having an over or under active thyroid can give these symptoms and the meds would be different. I haven't heard of your meds in uk only on these boards. So maybe it's to do with them. If unsure call your GP. Take Care debdough
