Winter seems to be finally over.I am usually a person by nature that is always cold. Not to day.It was 65 outside,I decided to enjoy the sun and rake some of the yard.10 minutes outside I start peeling of sweat shirt, still to hot, mean while my vision is blurring, seeing double.I came in and put on shorts and tank top.Hubby comes home shocked to see me out in next to nothing in March.I raked 10 more minutes and thought I was going to pass out.Fatigue set in.Vision has cleared up a little.I know with MS the heat can bother a person, but this took me for a loop.Any solution or thoughts would be helpful. Its gonna be a long summer, stuck inside with the air on.

Nuff

there are these things called neck coolers, you soak them in water and it keeps your neck cool which I think will keep you cool, I have some of these and they do work for a while, then I think that they start absobing my heat??

Try keeping a lawn chair in the shade for you to rest, plus cold water, I have not been able to come up with many ways to keep the heat down, other than don't do anything outside, and it is frustrating because when the days start to warm up, ya wanna get out and do something, then later you feel crummy it is like a double edged sword. I want to clean up my gardens, and I just am weary of the consequences.

We had AC installed w/our new furnace last fall I am looking foward to a cool summer instead of that miserable mess from last year

Hi Nuff,

Also you may want to look into a cooling vest. They can be found by doing a search jsut type cooling vest in yahoo tons of pages come up. They keep your core temp down and will stay cool for a few hours. I know my local MS society will help provide you with one if you need help. You may wnt to contact your local chapter. They may even havew a program where they offer a discount.

Good Luck
Be Cool

My DH and I have a small farm so there is plenty of work to do outside, winter, summer, spring and fall. Our summers can be really brutal and I have found myself struggling with symptoms when working outside.

The one thing that I have found that works for me is to keep a bucket of cold water in a shady place. When I start overvamping I will sit down and put my feet in the cool/cold water. It works like a charm. It brings down my core temp in no time at all.

I appreciate that it is a pain to have to take off the boots, socks and stuff but it is the only thing that works for me. I have a lot of animals to take care of and this allows me to do it relatively symptom free.
