View Full Version : Could it still be diabetes?

I have had issues with my insuline levels and blood glucose levels, but they have been getting better and I don't think I am a diabetic at this point, but not sure.

Anyhow, last month I went out and had one to many drinks. The day afterwards I noticed I was dehydrated and my muscles were all stiff in my body. I drank lots of water but this feeling never really got any better.

Last Friday I went out again and had 2 drinks total and come Sunday afternoon I felt worse as I had ever been. I was totally dehydrated feeling. I had muscle cramps, spasms, tremors. I also have had headaches, my eyes have sunken in, I'm tired, weak, dizzy, and very anxious! I also am sweating profusely at night losing all my water so I wake up dehydrated! So, I finally get into to see my doctor today and last week I just happend to have blood work done on me and all my sugar levels were in normal range so he didn't think this is diabetes. Howerver he did test my sugar levels and they were completely normal so this just confirmed it wasn't like symptoms of having diabetes.

He took more blood work again today to test the thyroid as he feels this could be thyroid related, but holy cow!!

I just can't figure what has happend to me or why!! I'm feeling a bit better today but this has got me scared.

I did ask him if I can drink on the Amour thyroid and he said yes, but this seemed to come on after I drank both times so I'm thinking mixing alcohol with the thyroid medicine is not a good idea. Also, I'm beginning to think I don't need the thyroid medicine and am going to stop. If it has caused this horrible event than I don't want it. It hasn't done anything for me anyhow and my levels were not that low to begin with to be hypothyroid.

But he said even though the blood work keeps saying my glucose levels are normal and good that it could still be diabetes, but that he totally doubted it. HOW, I don't get all of this! I'm freaking out!

Diabetes is a chronic disease. You don't get it and then it magically goes away. You CAN be in very good control, but it's still there. Close to normal blood sugars is no guarantee that you won't suffer from the complications that come with having Diabetes, so, in that sense, it could ALWAYS be Diabetes related even though your numbers are good. That doesn't mean that it is. If you doubt your Doctor, go and get a second opinion. Oh, and by the way, if alcohol does that to your body, who cares why, just don't consume it!!!
