Well looks like I will have to fight the end of this solo. The Dr office just called and said NO Way, if I want off benzo's she will not subsitute another one. I emailed the Ashton REport, she says' "that's one persons opinion", ugh, and I am on such a low dose, 1-3 days withdrawal and that will be it! Is that true? since I am down to .12.5 and sometimes .25 and tons of anxiety , no sleep, if I just bite the bullet it will be over sooner?????????

Change doctor. You are not adding another benzo - just changing to a long acting benzo - its well documented as a way of taper - not just Ashton but in the British National Formulary too. I am afraid your doctor is uninformed - not surprising really. You will find it far too difficult to try to get off the way you are going. Try changing doctors - take along your Ashton and discuss your situation.
Valium is the best way - its worth trying to find an understanding doctor

I've been to 3 doctors since I've moved here. It's getting too costly, no insurance. I am hoping since I am down to such a low dose to just jump off now? I have several .25 left of xanax to split and tough it out. The doctor assured me it will be over in a few days? Maybe I should just forgo any more pills and endure, since its hell anyway right now? Has anyone just stopped at this point and how long will the anxiety last? I am sleeping a few hours now, although did resort to the ambien which only works for a couple hours. But melatonin put me to sleep last night but woke 2 hrs later. I think as long as its not getting any worse why not just bite the bullet?
