I feel very strongly that Aspartame is toxic to your body.
All the research which shows it is safe has been done by the Company that manufactures it.
It breaks down into formaldehyde. Who wants that in their body. There is a book out called Sweet Poison which explains it all.
I had numb eyelids. Couldn't figure out why. I stopped drinking Diet Coke, and 2 weeks later it went away. It is neurotoxic and can cause headaches, seizures, numbness, and mimic MS.
So, my best advice is stay away from it.

Aspartame is close the most demographically tested food additive in history. Trillions of doses have benn taken worldwide over decades.
If there was a problem with it, we'd be neck deep in corpses.
ALL major health associations worldwide have appreoved it's use.
For diabetics and dieters, it's a godsend...sweetness without sugar.

Aspartame is fine.
Ignore the scary internet stories to the contrary...the sugar industry is HUGE and can buy enough fake "internet" doctors and websites to choke a horse.

It has been tested by the Nutrasweet company. Of course they want you to buy it and will find it safe to use.
It does not kill you. It is neurotoxic over a period of time. I have been told this by many a physician.
Why subject your body to a chemical that is controversial. Diabetics can use Stevia, or Sweet and Low without any toxic side effects.

An article in The Ecologist in 2000 surveyed 166 studies on Aspartame. The 74 studies by funded by industry were 100% unanimous in finding that Aspartame was totally safe. The remainder of the studies were independently funded, and 92% demonstrated some type of adverse reaction.

There are thousands of testimonials of people who found this sweetener was harmful to their health. Our bodies are designed to deal w/certain amts of toxins, but some people are less able than others to excrete them. The question is, why subject yourself needlessly when there are so many toxins we can't avoid in everyday life.

Best wishes.

Again...there is NOTHING that is taken in a larger number of doses worldwide.

Where are the dead bodies?

Has anyone really though of the dangers of SUGAR lSUGAR, and MORE SUGAR? How about DIABETES, DIABETES ,and more DIABETES! Let's ignore for the moment the obesity epidemic worldwide.

Someone who hates aspartame, tell me a respected world agency that has condemned aspartame. There must be plenty if it's such a virulent poison.

While stevia and sucralose are probably preferable to aspartame, I think that if I had to choose between soft drinks, I would much rather have one which was sweetened with aspartame than one which contained 40 grams of sugar. Sugar is a killer. It's really amazing how much havoc refined sugar wreaks on the human body. Although, like anything else, some people may experience side effects from aspartame, I think that by and large most people should have no problem. I think that if there were any serious issues with aspartame, we would have heard about them by now.
