Okay I am 24 and have hi blood pressure(dont we all huh?). Well any way I was wondering how long it takes for it to usually start lowering. For the past three weeks I have used NO salt increased my pottasium quitt drinking alcohol and have been exercising and have even lost about 10 pounds ...I just really havent seen a difference in the #'s. Am I excpecting to much in a short time or should I be seeing results? Thank you in advance and I look forwawrd to hearing from you all!

hi .There could be many reasons you re not seeing any noticable difference . Do you smoke ??smoking raises blood pressure signifigantly . How many times are you taking pressure readings. they will vary throughout the day Are you resting when you read it. Are you under any stress right now? You may also want to test your meter with drs. Home meters can be out slightly . Other things can affect blood pressure as well. Excersizing and losing weight is an excellent way to reduce it. Depending on how high your pressure is , you may need medication to bring it down .Best to consult your doctor
Good luck Mizzy

Carmen,
I found that weight loss and alcohol avoidance takes about 6-12 weeks to give much improved BP numbers.
Hang in there.
