I have been on Nuvaring for 2 month and noticed about a month in I was very hungry....I mean VERY hungry and all day. At first I thought it was just my metabolisim, but then I started getting dizzy, sick, headaches and constipated....has anyone experienced this? I have gained weight which doesn't make me happy. I workout everyday and eat healthy, so this is very troubling. I was doing some reading on this and there is a steroid in the nuvaring. Can this be what is making me so hungry. My boyfriend has even noticed my appetite is insatiable. I took it out (I was due too) and I don't want to continue...but then I also don't want to get pregnant either. I'm just looking for some suggestions or feedback.
Thanks -Katie

I was on the Nuvaring for 2 mos. before taking it out due to electrosurgery done on my cervix. I don't recall being overly hungry, but now that I think about it, I really did eat more than usual. I didn't know there was a steroid in the Nuvaring. Steroids DO increase appetite! I would say, that would be your culprit if you aren't on any other types of steroids (asthma medication, for instance).

I tried the Nuvaring for almost 3 weeks. I took it out becuz of the side effects. The increased appetite was one of the side effects I first noticed. I usually eat healthy and am very thin..and here I am scarfing down everything and anything I can! I've felt nauseas, dizzy, bled the entire time, felt really fuzzy headed and sooo tired. I only had enough energy to go to the kitchen..he he!

I'm soo happy I took it out on Thursday. I feel better already.
Have you thought about switching to another pill?

I'm on Yasmin right now. I have an earlier post about it. I don't do too well on birth control, but for now, I am not ready for something more permanent. :) Glad you're feeling better!

Thank you for the feedback. I called my Dr this morning to probably switch to Yasmin (again) I took it out Friday night, was starving Saturday and back to normal Yesterday and today....barely hungry and no headaches. I can't believe I didn't pick up on that eariler. My DR should be calling, if I find out anything interesting, I will pass it on!
