Well I have been smoking cigarettes for about two years and I figure that this isn't a part of my lifestyle that I want to continue with. So about a week ago I called up the Ontario quit smoking helpline and they gave me a bunch of helpful information for quitting.
One of their suggestions was to set a "quit date" for myself. That day is April 10th. It shall be a monumental day. A great deal of my friends have decided that they too will make april 10th their quit date. I think this is great.
I just wanted to let any smokers know that if you've been searching for a reason to quit..quit on April 10th with us. Or at least try.

I might take you up on that offer. I had a psychology class in college and he said one of the best ways to quit smoking re-strict yourself from doing it when you are most likely to do so. For example, after a meal, riding in your car. But then again, i could be completlely wrong. lol It could be the exact opposite. Just do it in those cases. I dont know, but smoking is so mental just like any other addiction. Chewing gum or drinking coffee often helps me not think about it. Also, being around people that are not smokers.

I Just wanted to say good luck with your quit date. If push comes to shove, I would have some nicotine gum or patches before you light back up again. 2 years is not a long time so the damage to your lungs will be minimal and completely reverseable. Again good luck.

For additional support check out the American Lung Association's Freedom from smoking site which has all kinds of helpful information to assist you in planning for when you quit. I took the class at a hospital and quit Jan 23. You can do it too!
Take care and keep the faith,
Donna

As the others go, this one invariably goes inversely proportional on me.
Amost two packs now.
