I started to take Avapro for my blood pressure about 4 months ago, but have been coughing for several months. I have taken antibiotics and use asthma and allergy meds regularly. Does any else have problems coughing with Avapro? I have a little discolored congestion that I sometimes cough up. I am considering asking the dr to do a chest x-ray to rule out other problems like pneumonia or lung cancer. Thank you for your thoughts.

713,

It sounds more like a cold/flu/ bronchitis to me. It's been rampant around the Northeast (United States) the last month.
Avapro (an ARB) CAN cause coughing but it's not very likely...it's the ACE inhibitors that are the cough inducers.
The typical cough from these drugs is a dry scratchy NONproductive hack. If you are getting colored phlegm, then it's most likely an infection.

When my mom took avaprov a couple of yrs back she had a bad cough with avapro. She was coming off the zestril. She's back on avapro, but she cut the pill in half. Instead of taking the prescribed amount of 150mg, she takes 75 mg. She also takes clonidine .01 3x daily.

This works for her without side effects.
