Here is my problem. I have had problems with my sleeping off and on as long as i can remember. I would go for months and be fine and then all of the sudden i wouldn't be able to sleep for a week or two. Like i would have troubles falling asleep and then when i would finally get to sleep it would be restless and i would wake up. Well Jan 2004 i got pregnant with my first baby.Since about 3 months into the pregnancy i started having horrible trouble sleeping. Thought no big deal just was starting to get uncomfortable with it.Well my DD will be 2 this sept. and i still can't get sleep. My DD has been sleeping through the night since 6 weeks old. So it hasn't been her keeping me up. Anywas it takes me forever to fall asleep and then once i do i wake up every hour or two. This is becoming very frustrating.I talked w/ my gp about it and she gave me lunesta samples and told me to cut out the caffiene. Which i did that seemed to help(the caffiene cut), but not slove the problem. She didn't want to give me anymore lunesta. She just didn't seem real helpful about. I see my GOBYN in May and i thought about asking her and see what she thinks.I don't know if she can really help. I thought that maybe since it really become a problem since i got pregnant . Maybe she would have some ideas.Does anyone here. I really am frustrated that i am so tired all the time.

Do you have enough energy to put the baby in a stroller & take some fresh air every day? Start slow... build up to longer walks. Fresh air, sunshine & exercise all help improve sleep at night. Try some warm milk at bedtime, if you tolerate dairy, and then take a magnesium supplement -- the citrate or malate forms are best.
Good luck.

Yea i do have some energy sometimes to go on walks. I have found alot lately, that i really don't want to do anything i am so tired. I really have to force myself to get things done around the house or just go out and do something. I feel so lazy. I don't really like milk. I try to drink a glass every morning, but it has to have ovaltine in it. I can't drink to much or my stomach starts cramping really bad for some reason. I have started taken a one a day vitamin everyday. I feel that if i could get myself on a routine too that would help. My husband works nights and i can start that routine when he's not home. When he is home he really messes it up. He doesn't understand being in bed at a certain time and not tv watching in the bedroom. It's really frustrating let me tell you. I was doing good when my doctor put me on the lunesta for a while. Then i went off of it and was doing really good. Then he just gets upset when i want to go to bed early. He can stay up all hours and function on little sleep b/c that all he knows. He works 3 jobs and goes to school full time.I just don't know what to do about all this not sleeping.

That is because you are lactose intolerant. So am I! But lucky I am in love with soya milk. You should try Soya milk. Don’t get plain, get chocolate or vanilla, then when you start to like Soya milk you can really live off it. Then you never need milk again unless it is in ice-cream which your body should tolerate more if you take out the everyday milk.
When you do start drinking soya milk, and like it, you can buy the plain soya milk that is dry (powder), then add water and sugar, or just water and drink it hot before bed. It is really good for woman.
I am JUST like you, but I get in to these light sleeping habits but I am able to get myself out of it. I don’t know why, but I just don’t fall in to a really deep sleep which makes me want to sleep all the time. My doctor, make it sound so simple, just take vitamins. But it is more then that. If you cannot drink soy milk then take calcium and magnesium before bed, it is knowing to help with sleeping.
And keep up with your doctor as for her to send you to a nose and throat specialist. Or a sleeping doctor because you just cannot fall in to a deep sleep and you are there for… bluh bluh bluh…

Hi,
It could be that you are lactose intolerant.; that would explain the cramping after dring the glass of milk. (I have it and so does my 17 yr old son). As for your energy diversity, find a time when you can sit down with your husband and no distractions. This next part will probably sound silly but we've used the techinque when we've had to talk things out. Sit close together on a coch, hold hands and explan to him about how the doctor gave ou meds to get you to sleep and while you were on the regimine-you had enery.
Most important of of all...Make sure to get the TV OUT of the BEDROOM!!
Hope this helps.

Thanks all for your help. I will certainly try what you have suggested. I am almost willing to try anything right now. I just want to be able to get a good nights sleep. I also hope in May my other doctor will have some suggestions. Thanks so much for all the help.

The stomach cramping might be lactose intolerance, or it could be a more serious dairy allergy or gluten intolerance (barley in the Ovaltine).
I recommend rice milk rather than soy milk. Both come calcium-fortified, but soy does tend to suppress thyroid function & that is not helpful in CFS.
Have you had a complete thyroid panel workup, BrownEyez? This is a really common problem & is treatable w/inexpensive meds.
Best wishes.
