I've been reading a number of the postings re: tonsillectomy recovery and have learned a lot! I'd really be a mess if I hadn't found this site before my surgery which is April 26. I've never had surgery before so all this info. has been really helpful. My question is has anyone whose had their tonsils out been smokers until the time of their surgery? I am a smoker and thought that April 26 will be the best quit date given I'm not going to have much of a choice, or a desire (I hope). I'm wondering if anyone's struggled with smoking after having their surgery, or did the urge obliviate itself with all the nasty post-op pain??

I've only been smoking for a couple years....but I pretty much got over the smoking thing so far. I'm post-tonsillectomy 7 days...didn't even think about hitting a smoke until today. Took a little bit...but wasn't worth the pain. I don't even think I wanted it...it's just such a habit when I drive.

With the post-op pain/sleeping/etc, smoking has been the last thing on my mind this past week.
