Over the past six months or so, Ive been having some problems sleeping...I don't know if it's really a serious problem, but it's starting to interfere with my life, especially school and studying, so Im trying to figure out what's wrong...
I can sleep for a LONG time...Even if I go to bed early, say eight or nine pm, i can sleep until noon or later, but I still just feel groggy and irritable all day. I go to bed around midnight and have to get up around six. I never wake up feeling refreshed or awake or ready to start the day. I wake up feeling like I need to sleep more. However, no matter how much more I sleep, I never feel better.
I don't ever wake up during the night. Im not overweight, don't have high bp, sleep apnea, or any sort of health problems. The only issue I can really think of that might be contributing to this is depression...I haven't been diagnosed with depression or anything, but lately I have been dealing with some things and have felt rather down...However, I don't know how much that could affect my sleep, especially the issue of getting too much sleep.
Any comments/advice would be greatly appreciated. =)
Thanks!

Did you know that depression has nothing to do with how you feel( as in emotions)? They are physical symptoms that occur becuase your body is not creating enough seritonin. Insomnia and this restless sleep you are mentioning can be part of depression. You should see your Dr about this. If you do have depression getting on some type of medication should help. Of course once (if you are prescribed) you are taking the meds it takes a few weeks to build up in your body to work.
I've had post pardum depression( after having a baby) and my hubby has it. He had insomnia for years and went to many doctors. One finally sent him to a psyciatrist and that Dr diagnosed hubby with depression. He wasn't feeling down...when he didn't get the sleep he needed his body couldn't renew the natural seretonin our bodies make. He's been having good sleep. What caused this for him was sleep apnea- his tongue would block his airway and then his body would wake up a bit, and he would't get to the good sleep. Don't know everything depression of course, but check with your Dr.
Anyways good luck!
