My endocrinologist called and said my vitamin D was deficcient (it's 13) and gave me 1 pill of Drisdol 50,000 IU and said to get blood work done again in 4 weeks. Does anyone else have low vit d? Im not diagnosed yet just possible.
I am also vit b12 def. My new symptom other than that is half of my left hand has been numb for 3 days. My neuro is so sharp tongued with me and saying my symptoms aren't neuro related that I'm afraid to call his office about my hand. All of my other symptoms sound like everyone elses so I don't need to bore you with a long list. Many times I have asked him who gets this symptom or that symptom and he will reply only people with ms. The doctors just leave us hanging there. Confused in la la land, Lily

Is he suggesting a vitamin deficiency could cause MS-like symptoms? Weird.
Sounds like time for a new neuro - you should definately feel like you have an open line of communication!

When I first got sick and they didn't know what was wrong with me (before they found the lesions), somebody had mentioned Vitamin D deficiency. I googled "Vitamin D deficiency symptoms" and here is what I found:
some forms of cancer, including breast cancer and colon cancer
osteopenia
osteoporosis
muscular weakness
joint pain
muscle twitching
However, my blood tests came back normal, including whatever blood test that indicates "inflammation" came back normal. Then I was sent off for a CAT Scan and MRI, which is when they found 2 lesions and probable MS.
I am still undiagnosed.

Lily, severe B12 deficiency (aka pernicious anemia) can cause MS-like symptoms. B12 is crucial to myelin production. With B12 def you can have demyelination that is undetectable by MRI as it doesn't necessarily occur in specific locations, rather it "weakens" myelin system-wide.
Now, I got this information from a NEUROLOGY web site. If your neuro knows your sx and knows you are B12 def yet says your sx aren't neuro-related he probably needs a neurology refresher course. While he's re-learning his trade, you may want to find another neuro.

In the beginning my neuro tested me for vit D deficiency. He told me that it could cause alot of my possible MS symptoms; but it turned out I didn't have a vit D deficiency.

If your neuro has a sharp tongue, I would look for a different one.
I believe a lot of MS people have Vitamin D deficiency.
You might want to search the term Vitamin D, there was a big discussion on it a couple of months back.

Look at the following web site:
http://www.*********.org/index.html
It is very insiteful for MS and the relationship to Vit D.
