hello,i have been on wellbutrin sr for about a week and overall it is the best antideppresant i have tried.i am sleeping less but think in my case that is a good thing.i also seem to be much more assertive and less inhibited on this med,i don't know if anyone else has experienced that,i tend to get more emotional but it seems to quickly pass, for example if i am watching a sad scene on tv,i will kind of get an emotional reaction for a few seconds,as if i am going to cry but it too quickly passes.i have tried paxil, effexor xr,zoloft, celexa and luvox and so far the wellbutrin sr has been better than any of those, though i think it would be good to be getting a little more sleep than i am getting now, although i have been working out in the gym harder than normal and that sometimes causes insomnia.

I want to switch from Paxil to Wellbutrin. You said you like it better but do you have anxiety or just depression? I have both.
I also have insomnia. Do you take anything for that?

Wellbutrin helped a lot with my depression, but it was just so-so with my anxiety problems, so I was given an additional drug. However, many people who also suffer anxiety do OK with Wellbutrin alone.

bruins1977,
To sleep more (and better) try taking Wellbutrin right after you wake up. By the time you go to sleep the amount of medication in your system will be less and you'll fall sleep faster, and you'll stay asleep longer.
I have been on Wellbutrin for almost 2 years now, and I love it. I have a severe case of PTSD and this medication controls my depression helps with the anxiety as well (some).
I have the same quick emotional reaction that you are experiencing, it just started a few weeks ago. I don't know how to control it, but my husband thinks this side effect is "very sweet"... He said it's a lot better than the "evil Prozac wifey" http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif
Beachgirl,
I was on Paxil for a while and hated the side effects. I think the side effects of Wellbutrin are a lot milder and must of them last for only a few weeks.
It was very hard to get off Paxil, because Wellbutrin doesn't help much with my anxiety problem. What I do to help with the anxiety is I go out and run, walk, take self defense classes and I inhale a natural mix of lavender, ginger, orange, sage oils every time I feel things are getting out of control (I carry the bottle everywhere I go). The oil does an awesome job!.
