Hi everyone,

I feel like I have a systemic candida infection. I have requested a blood test from my doc to find out once and for all. I ordered a home test kit but it was a waste of time and money....couldn't get enough blood out. Hoping to have test tomorrow as today feel really bad. Aches, lethargic, sore eyes, nasal congestion, sinus pains, horrible throat, tongue coating, bitter taste and breath. I get this regularly and feel it is down at least in part to the candida. For me I think problem stems from the stomach. I do not have the correct balance of Hcl to process food and kill off bacteria. The yeast live of breads and sugars and the more it takes hold the more you crave these. I was taking Hcl Betaine and the symptoms abated but I need to find out how much I am actually producing naturally as I suffer from LPR. When you have the right balance of Hcl you can kill of the yeast and pylori and allow the good bacteria to take hold. The issue of the swollen taste buds is I feel a result of Laryngo Pharyngeal Reflux (LPR). The acid enters the throat and mouth causing the circumvillate papillae to become inflammed. If you see a white spot on top of this it could be oral candida or possibly plaque forming on the raised taste bud. This is the problem when you have what you feel to be two illnesses running in tandem....they can mirror each other. I often have a thick white tongue coating especially when I feel like this but is it the candida? Also at the time when I feel like this I have post nasal drip from my sinuses and the coating could come from that or is the candida and the LPR causing this also. I really feel I am battling on two fronts with these illnesses competing to make their mark. The only thing I know is when I feel good generally I do not have congestion, PND or bitter taste but is that because the LPR has abated or the candida is in check or both?

Hi i like you i have suffered with candida for 5 years now,i dont know if you are aware of a natural health supplement called FREELAC,i take it instead of what my doctor gave me as it always came back, freelac is the only thing that has worked for me and has changed my life,it sound like your candida might be systemic.......thanx pip_1000

Hi - I have Sjogren's and Vasculitis and suffer from Chronic vaginal yeast infections - I wonder if it connected w/ having an auto immune disease?

Hi everyone,
I too have this chronic. It just seems to never disappear completely, and I have had it over 3 years now. I also have Sjogrens, but I have yet to have some relief for it. My doctor has put me on nystatin rinse, and diflucan for a two week span. But she told me that if that didn't clear it up, it wasn't thrush. Well, turns out she is wrong. It IS thrush. I just can't get my doctor to treat it properly. I am going to see her next week. I think I will have to inform her that there is such a thing, and its called systematic candida infection. Thanks so much for this thread. :)

Boy do I know candida well!! I suffed it really bad several years ago after having a time of getting sinus infections undercontrol. finally after 2 or 3 years of constant sinus infections with antibiotics I was still sick.

my doctor put me on nystatin. It only worked some. the yeast built up immunity. the only thing that worked is this. I would eat 10 raw garlic cloves everyday for at least 3 months or more before I got it under control. Also lots and lots of yogurt. Probiotics is even better. You get them at the nutrition centers.

Still when my immune system is compromised, which I am not sure what is causing it, I get flare ups. I recognize the symptoms from years of dealing with it, with a pause, start up the goldenseal and echinecea, raw garlic, yogurt.

if in your mouth, mine was systemic (bowels stomach etc) buy regular unsweetened yogurt, eat it holding each bite as long as you can and do not brush your teeth afterward, and when you brush use baking soda more. floride toothpaste kills the good bacteria in your mouth too and bacteria feed on candida. by the way they spray vegies at the store with floride water, so wash them off before eating them.

Do not rinse with listerine or any other antibacterial. use baking soda rinses for bad breath. use toothpaste only once a day at the most. Also good for bad breath is parsley sprigs chewing on them. you can use mints too unsweetened. What you want is good bacteria as much as you can get into your system to eat those little yeast buggers.

Try Grapefruit Seed Extract (GSE) for Candida. You can get it at the healthfoods store and it comes in liquid or capsules. There are no known side effects. I used it when my 10 month old had thrush, we went through 3 bottles of nystatin and I ended up getting it too. I started taking the GSE tablets while nursing and the thrush was gone in a week. I continued to take the GSE for 3 weeks to complete the treatment. Neither my son nor I have had a problem since.
