I had LASIK in May of 2000 and I have never had any problems.
It was like a miracle to me.

I had mine done in Dec 2005. I had severe corneal edema afterwards and was legally blind for 2 weeks. As the swelling went down, my vision in my left eye slowly improved and is now 20/30. My right eye developed astigmatism from uneven healing and is 20/100. I have to wear a contact lens in that eye or I cannot read or drive at night (ghosting, halos). I had weekly appointments for a month afterwards, and now i see the doctor monthly. i lost alot of time off work, and I am going to have to have it redone next month. After all of this, I personally do not recommend it.

I am totally for the lasik surgery. I had it done back in March of this year and seeing wonderful. The first few weeks were tough but worth every moment of it. It is the best thing I have done for myself :).

I had it done a year and a half ago, and absolutely love it! I had problems with dryness in the beginning, but definitely worth it. This is not a time for bargain shopping though - the dr I chose was more expensive than some, but go for quality over price if you have this done.

Well, I am still on the fence at this point. I had it done 9 weeks ago and am dealing with alot of dryness. I have to use very lubricating drops every two hours or my eyes get very irritated and light sensitive. I am fluctuating with it, but on a bad week I can hardly keep my eyes open after i get home in the evenings; they just want to shut. My vision has been really good though. I had a lot of starbursts in the beginning but they have gotten alot better. Can't see them at all during the day and at night I don't think they are any worse than before my surgery. So, if in a few months my eyes dont feel so dry I would probably say yes. But it is a gamble regardless of my individual outcome.
Good luck with your decision!

I had LASIK in November 2003, and I can honestly say it was the best thing ever for me. I had initial dry-eyes like lots of people but found it to be easily remedied by drops, after this wore off (about 6 weeks for me) then I have never had another problem and it was life changing. i thought i was scared of the water (as in swimming in the sea, diving in pools etc) but this was only because of my sight and once I could see well again I LOVE my holidays on the beach, swimming and snorkelling so much again. Even on a day-to-day basis, it has just made life so much simpler. Of course, had it gone wrong like for some people, then who cares about swimming in the sea? But it didn't for me and for the majority of people. I researched a lot before I had it and I decided the risks were minimal albeit potentially serious, and it paid off. Nobody can tell anyone else whether to do it, the risks ARE there, but if you really want vastly improved sight, this is the only way to go. My brother and my brother-in-law had the treatment 2 weeks after me and have also both loved the outcome.
