How are you doing? I'm still hanging in there at 100%. Expect to for the duration, or until something pops up. Teaching is going great, though I'm looking forward to my first real summer break (I taught last summer). We are headed to Spain and southern France in September, which should be fun.
What's going on your end?
Hey, I also had a question about your problems you had initially with the vision stuff that was undiagnosed and causing you compensation problems. Didn't you say it was just a matter of getting the correct vision prescription for your lenses and then you were okay? I'm 42 now and just beginning to get that fuzziness when reading up close. Eventually I'm headed to reading glasses land, but I'm concerned about possible set backs with visual correction. Should I be?

Hi Terri
Glad things are going so well for u---especially the 100%---"Spain and southern France " that sounds fantastic
...."getting the correct vision prescription for your lenses and then you were okay?"....
Yep---that(prescription) plus VRT exercises with focus on vision---nothing special---just about same ones I was doing---all along---just more often---
....."concerned about possible set backs with visual correction. Should I be?"...
Nope---it would keep u from fully compensating---but---would not cause a decomp(set back)
---but u have already---compensated---so not likely---it---takes a "step event" to decomp---gradual vision changes---will not do it---so says Univ of Penn Balance Center folks
----my vision problem--keeping me from reaching 100%--- was a "step event"---in that it---undid---the Navy's fix of my preexisting vision problem---
Still---100% here---gearing up for the summer house/grounds upkeep maint
---no overseas---trips this yr---next yr---Norway---just north of Oslo---skiing--Nov 07
---this month--up to an---area of PA---called "PA Grand Canyon"-----white water rafting---horseback---& biking---then the upkeep work
Will be 4 years in Jun 06---think if I can get to Jun 07---which will be five years----it not likely to return(knock on wood)---still walking 21 mi p/wk---VRT's etc---
Stay---at 100% & well.

Hi
...."have been dizzy free for 4 years?"....
It will be three years in Jun 06---dizzy free---and---four years from when it happened Jun 02
...."7 months and i just today started feeling weird again"....
Yep---par for the course---two steps forward---one back---the trajectory to/in recovery is not linear---just the way the brain---handles it

Hi Subs
Great news you will have had no dizziness 3 years in June.Hope I will be able to post that someday.
Just a quick question from your experience.Did colds ever really affect you and make you decomp during your recovery?
As you probably know I was doing pretty well for like 2 weeks at 98% then caught a cold virus and have gradually dropped to like 50% (almost as crap as I felt when this all started).Did you ever experience this?
I have just begun month 9 and was concerned that this might be slightly abnormal and I might have to start from scratch again.Im really hoping I will compensate fast again.
Thanks for any advice. You are very helpful and source of hope of a full recovery for me.

Hi
Yes--colds,etc...would slow down compensation---or set me back---as I approached---100%---it had less impact---toward the end---none at all---and---now---for the last three years---nothing seems to---impact the 100%---i.e., colds, shots, whatever...most folks never have to start from "scratch"
--usually drop--back---couple percentage points

Comeandrelax -- my whole ordeal lasted about 1-1/2 to 2 years. In December it will be 4 years since my introduction into vestibular hell.
Hi Subs!!
So, no skiing until '07? That's a long time to wait, though your other activities in the PA Grand Canyon sound fun. Thanks for the input on the vision stuff. I'm not going there yet, but it seems inevitable. You know, when you look at a page in a magazine and want to take a closer look so you put it closer to your face, and all that does is make it worse! Ah, the aging process . . .
You don't have to do any house painting this year, do ya?

comeandrelax,
i was starting to feel good too after 5 months, and then for no reason i feel like i was back where i started. but its been 2 weeks since the really bad lightheadedness came back, and it seems like its already starting to get better, even though i still cant walk anywhere by myself!! hope u feel better, i know how frustrating it is to feel good and then so bad again!!
