View Full Version : ear infection: alternate approaches for healing

I've had an ear infection for about two weeks.... The ear that's infected had a mastoidectomy about 13 years ago... or so.

It's only gotten worse... brown sticky fluid crusting up then more brown sticky fluid.

It did have a foul odor- which I am used to (it always has this- since I had a cholesteatoma, and after the mastoidectomy).... but now the odor has changed.. it's not so foul...

basically- my question is this: Should I opt for the doctor and get antibiotics (which seem to always clear my infections up, or at least make them better to the point where my body can handle them).... or should I not go to the doctor- and see if if my body can take care of it on it's own.... I really don't want to get antibiotics- as I just had them around early December for something else....

I'm kind of paranoid of using antibiotics that often- and I seem to get them at least twice a year... and I want them to be effective when I REALLY need them.

Just for information- my ear is bad off... any touching or pressure to the canal and i hear popping and clicking and a sound of fluid.... and bubbling...

there's fluid any time i stick my finger in there... it always collects on it....
