Earlier I had posted that I was still having trouble after having a Lumbar Disecetomy. Well a new MRI showed that the herniation is back and worse than before. Dr. says its causing the burning because of pressure on the nerves. So it was more than an UTI. He plans on doing surgery on my back again this time removing the disc. Has anyone had this done and if so what can I expect.

Hi... I can say this... My neighbor had to have two of his lumbar vertabraes fused together and he was walking around in one week.. I saw him one day and asked when he was going to get his operation, and he said that he already had it a week earlier... I was amazed... Just make sure you have a good doctor with references and ask him how many of these operations he has done successfully...

Hi Angela,
I had the same thing, with the first surgery and then about 6 months later, I had a L4-5 fusion with donor bone. In my case I was in the hospital for a total of 6 days because I had to end up having a cervical fusion at the last minute as well, otherwise it would only have been two days without complications. Nurses had me up walking the next day after surgery, lots of pain meds to control the pain.
In the hospital before you go home the PT department should come in and show you how to safely get in and out of bed and other ways to help with walking, ect.
I was walking the neighborhood about a week after surgery. Don't get me wrong, I was still in pain, but this did help me with getting my mind off of staring at the walls and was also important to keep the blood flowing so that I didn't get blood clots in the legs, and for the muscles in your back. Take the pain meds as you need them, don't wait until your dying as it will only make you more miserable in the long run.
Good luck and best wishes to you,
Bernie

Thanks for the advice. The Doctor is a neurosurgeron in B'ham Alabama, he is highly recommended he did my first surgery and I had no problems. I was up that day and went home the next. So I'm hopping rather expecting the same results. Even though he said I would be in the hospital for 4 days. Thanks again.
