Hi all. I was wondering if anyone has been to John Hopkins Medical Center in Maryland.

The reason I am asking is someone I know briefly recently went and saw a Neurosurgeon who specializes in pain. It appears from his credentials to be higly qualified in this are.

Has anyone been to John Hopkins Medical Center? I am looking for any input oh how they are. Good or bad experiences.

Thanks for the input.

Go out and make it a pain free day.

I don't know any of the neurosurgeons there however I do know the Cheif of Neurology. ;) Personally as a matter of fact. Before he had taken the position at JH, he was my doctor and head of the team of doctors at Univ of MD for my brain surgery.

JH is one of the best hospitals on the east coast as they are a learning hospital and a research center which has the latest of technology. It has always been my understanding that JH is a very high recommendation to anyone who has connections to get a Dr in it.

I used to live in MD on the eastern shore (Greensboro - about 20 mins from DE state line) so I'm not sure if the info I gave you helps or not but that's the best that I can offer. :)

Thanks for the response. Yes your post was helpful. I am in the process of sending my records to JH to see if they feel they can help me. Will keep you posted on outcome.

My son's boss had spinal surgery done at Johns Hopkins. I don't know the surgeon's last name. It was lengthy and not American. They loved the place. JH is ranked best hospital in the US.

Hi. I/m currently a paitiet at Johns Hopkins Pain Center. I have mixed feeling about them. They are the most well organised and eficient medical facility I've had dealings with. They will help your own GP set up a program for you but won,t precribe any of the meds themselves. They are on top of all the latest technology and don,t mind one bit using you as a guinea pig testing it. And, they are very expensive and even with insurance, my out of pocket expenses are higher than with other hospitals. But hey, you have to pay for the best, right? I think I was expecting miracles at JH, but even they can only do so much. I'm still going there so I guess I would say to go for it. Just keep your expectations in perspective.

I agree I have to keep my expectations realistic. And I agree that you have to go to the best of the best. My case is not a simple case. So I have to go the places that have state of the art doctors and equipment. No place is perfect but I need to go to the best.

Time will tell what happens. I don't even know if the doctor will agree to see me or not. I have my records ready to go for him to review. Will see if he feels he can help me or not. I will keep you guys posted.

Thanks again for the input.

Allan
