I'm going through an ivf cycle and I'm currently taking a prenatal vitamin. Should I also take a multi vitamin or any other ones? Thanks, Linda

Hi Linda,
Prenatal vites are usually pretty complete. I would say eat healthfully -- whole foods, get your veggies & fruit , & you should be set. Don't major in junk.
If this your first cycle? Good luck!
If you are successful ... one thing I wish I had known w/my pregs was to make sure I got some Omega 3 oil. My kids are teens now, and "way back when" I was preg. we were told to avoid seafood due to mercury -- that may still be the same now. But now you can get fish oil supplements that are 3rd party lab verified for purity. -- Wouldn't want to overdo, of course, & they couldn't be used if there was a bleeding problem, but a little is good for developing brains & nervous systems.
And I would have made sure I got at least the RDA for iodine (our PVs didn't have that then, not sure about now) -- most people get iodine through iodized table salt, but I was on a low salt diet & didn't think to take care of the iodine.
Best wishes!

Thanks for the advice. I just got back from an all natural health food store and bought some raw nuts, fruits and a Vitamin b complex that has some added vitamin c too. Since I gave up smoking in the beginning of this cycle, it's not been easy. I'm also a vegetarian so it's hard to try and make sure I'm getting enough of the essential stuff right now. This is my first ivf. I go for another ultra sound tomorrow morning to see how the follicles are doing and if we can proceed. I also read that wheat grass is helpful too. So, I'll make up a glass of that and have my vitamins. Thanks again for your words of wisdom.
