Surgery 02/07/06. I've been going pretty smooth compared to other posts here. Knock on wood for that! But I've had continued feeling of something caught in my throat. In the past few days, I've had swelling in the back of my neck, no redness though. I've also started coughing up fresh blood after eating. Anyone else have a problem with this? What did it turn out to be? I know I should call the doc, but afraid he'll pull me out of work again, I really can't afford it.

Casual,
Pulled out of work or not, you know you need to see your doctor NOW. Look at it this way - you might make things worse by waiting; i.e., you might miss less time now than you would later.
I'm new to all this myself, so I'll leave more definitive answers to people who know more than I do. But do some keyword searches on this board and I think you'll find useful info.
Take care - and call your doctor!!

Casual,
I don't mean to scare you, but maybe I do. I don't know of anyone who's coughing up blood on this board. They may have harmed your esophogus in some way or who knows. If you have not seen your doc. yet....call now. Don't take it lightly.
You'll be fine w/medical attention, I'm sure. Just don't delay.
Keep us posted.

Hi Casual,
I hope tou've already called that Dr. by now. I'm sure anyone on here is gonna tell you the same. It's nothin to fool with.
I know the missing work thing hurts, but you cant afford not to.

Hope you've seen the Doc, Casual.
Irrespective of the surgery, you may need something else treated - it could even be something minor. But ignoring minor issues can lead to bigger issues.
The worst part for me, at least, is not knowing.
Git yerself checked. Pronto!

Hope you've got the message about getting to the Dr, maybe even the ER. I have read cases about the plate/screws rubbing through the back of the esophogus, and it's a major medical problem. (Not very common, but it can happen) Don't panic, but don't delay. Find out what's wrong & get it treated.
