Hi,

I am new here and just had a consult for the DRX9000. I have had problems with L5 back pain for the last five years after an OJI injury. Two months ago I was told I have two more dengenerative discs in the C4-C7 area with bone spurs probably pressing on a nerve. The neck pain is overwhelming the back pain right now.

The Doctor I spoke to today is waiting for the DRX9000C machine. He said, depending on what he sees in my MRI's, treatment with both machines would be about $4500.-$6500.

Wondering if anyone here has experience with the cervical version of the DRX. I can't find much on it.

Thanks for any help.

Hi, lulu, and welcome to the forum. Before having any of these kinds of treatments, you should get a diagnosis. I would urge you to see a spine specialist, either neuro or ortho, with a spine fellowship. It can be dangerous to have these manipulations or traction when you don't know just what it going on in your back. It can be very dangerous to get the wrong treatment. You can so easily do damage to the neck and end up in a wheelchair. It just isn't worth the risk. At least, find our exactly what is safe for you to do.

Good luck.

Thanks Carol. It appears you have a lot of experience with the same problems. I have been seeing spine specialists. A sports medicine doctor and one appointment with a Neurosurgeon. He ordered physical therapy until my next appointment which is in about 3 weeks. He said I am not a candidate for surgery on my low back, that it's not bad enough. The neck might be another story. He is supposed to be one of the best neuros in the area and is very conservative. I did plan on talking to all the specialists before I commit. The cost is another consideration.

I was given the info. on the DRX and wanted to check it out in case the Neurosurgeon tells me he can't help with my neck. The pain has been debilitative and in the meantime I have to work which entails hours driving a car.

There are so many horror stories about surgery and even the cervical epidural. Nothing helps for any length of time. I'm desperate trying to find something that will and looking at all of the options. I was already doing many of the things the physical therapist is doing. It feels like everything is taking too long. After finding this board I see I'm not alone. The stories are depressing and don't leave me feeling much hope for the future.

DRspine, I googled SpineMed. Is there someway to find out if there is one in my area? It appears the SpineMed table is only for the low back. Is that correct?

You should go to a clinic with the DRX and at least get the free consult. Dont go the surgery way unless you have tried everything. The LONG term effects are usually not that great with surgery. Exhaust all avenues before surgery.

Based on what I read, DRX9000 has great success with lumbar problems, but not as good for cervical... I know people that have great success with lumbar and pain is gone, including a nurse that told me to try it.. I also have a friend who's wife has had neck and nerve pain going down arm to middle finger... She has a bulge in her neck, and tried DRX-9000 and said that the nerve pain has subsided a little, but the neck pain is the same... So, I guess that the fact that her arm feels a bit better is good news, but not super.. She went through 18 treatments...
