My husband has sleep apnea and has a full-face CPAP mask. A lot of the time he ends up taking it off in the middle of the night because it leaks so much that the noise wakes him up. Does anyone have any suggestions? He does not wash the mask every day. Would that make a difference?

He needs to wash the mask everyday, or every other day at the very least. Bacteria and other stuff builds up in the mask, which can cause other health problems.
The mask is probably leaking because he doesn't have it on tight enough, or the mask or hose is wearing out and needs to be replaced. I found with mine that there is a very little leeway between having it tight enough for it not to leak, and loose enough to make it comfortable (for lack of a better word, as it is not comfortable). Sometimes in the morning, it leaks a little and makes a farting sound. :)

I've been on c-pap for over 3 years. The full face mask leaked a lot so I changed to the half mask (covers nose only). I am satisfied with it. Of course, leakage can be corrected by proper adjustment of the face and head straps, as the gentleman above alluded to. Washing mask everyday or every other day is a bummer. I never washed mine. (yuck!) :jester: But I never got sick. I get a new mask about every 6 months.
