I am sooooooo ready to see my pain management doctor on Apr. 28,
because I have been in so much pain. I hit a deer last week and scewed
up my back. Its been hurting every since. I probably hit it at a speed
of maybe 25-30mph or less. The car received minor damage, but boy
am I hurting. Of course, if you remember me; I had 2 discetomies and
a TLIF of L5-S1 in Oct/Nov of 2004. And now I also have a bulge at L4.
My pain scale is probably everyday a minimum of 5. It really sucks
to hurt this bad, day in-day out, and still go to work when there is
people out there on Medicaid that don't deserve it. Believe me, because
I seen it every night where I work. Don't get me wrong-there are people
out there that deserve disability or Public Aid and there is more than
too much that don't deserve it all.
We all know the system stinks! Life goes on. I'm sorry I just had to
vent. I've been pretty depressed lately-my anti-depress. got changed
and life just really stinks in general. Sorry.........

I can relate to both your pain and frustration. The last thing anyone with back problems needs is an accident like that! I was recently diagnosed with spondy L4-L5 and stenosis and going in for my first MRI next week. The last 3 months have been steadily worse and it's all I can do to fight depression on a daily basis. I know that it's almost impossible to get disability yet I don't see how anyone can work full time with problems like these, and pain on a constant basis. There are people I know who are on disability and have been for years, when it was a lot easier to qualify for; now the ones who need it are denied it seems. Life can be unfair but you just try to keep going on and live each day hoping that the next will be better.
Keep the faith. I'm sure your body will recover from the injury once the muscles relax and hopefully you can get the pain under control.

I can definately relate to that.. Having back pain is enough, but having to go to work and concentrate on it and do a good job is not an easy task.. Has your pain gotten worse or better at all? If you got muscle relaxers, take them with Advil.. I usually take 3 advil and sometimes 4 with food.. WHen I feel my back acting up, I take muscle relaxers... It is a good idea to always keep some on hand. Also, ice packs seem to work for me..

My pain has definately gotten worse since about February when I first went to the spine doctor. I do have some samples of Flexoril, which I'm keeping for that "emergency"--I hate taking meds and try to "tough it out"--I take advil, but not that much cuz I have stomach problems also, but will try the flexoril and see if it helps.

What kind of work do you do? I had been working for 10+ years sit down job before company layoff end of last year. Now I'm living on severence and wondering how I can go back to working ever?? I worry endlessly about that.
I'm working part time at home (contractual) but that's about all I can manage with my back and constant pain.

I've been using heat on my back but have been thinking about switching to cold and will also give that a try. thanks for your suggestions.
