View Full Version : Test Results -- Confusing - Can someone help me?

I've been going back and forth with very strange test results which doctors cannot figure out what they are except the only phrase I hear is "it must not be fatal - otherwise you would be dead by now". I've heard that from 3 different doctors, but none of them can figure out what it is. So, I'm asking if anyone has heard of this and what I should do? Here are the CBC results:
WBC - 12.4 and has risen to 19.5 (scale: 4.5 - 11.0)
LYMPH% - 20.8 it has fallen from 24.6 (scale: 22.0 - 46.0)
Mono% - 3.9 it has fallen from 6.8 (scale: 2.0 - 9.0)
Gran% - 75.3 it has risen from 68.6 (scale: 44.0-74.0)
RBC - 5.04 it has fallen from 5.16 (scale: 4.0 - 5.2)
HGB - 14.2 (scale: 12-16)
HCT - 44.2 (scale: 36.0-46.0)
MCV - 87.9 (scale: 80-100)
MCH - 28.3 (scale: 26.0-34.0)
MCHC 32.2 falling to 31.7 (scale: 33.0-37.0)
RDW - 14.0 (scale: 11.5-14.5)
PLT - 378 (scale: 140-440)
MPV - 8.2 (scale: 7.4-10.4)

GLU 117
NA 139
K 4.5
CL 103
CO2 26.0
BUN 8
CREA .8
BUN/CREAT 10 which they say is low (scale: 11.7-18)
CA 9
TP 7.4
ALB 4.4
GLOB 3.0
A/G RATIO 1.5
AST 11 which they say is low (scale: 13-39)
ALT 13
ALK PHOS 71
BILI T 0.3

This is the one they keep hoping up and down on -- SED Rate: 41 (I guess it is supposed to be around 0-20)

TSH 0.97

CPK 27 is low (scale: 30-135)

Rheumatoid Factor is 7 (scale: < 14)

CRP is 2.20 -- which says suspect acute inflammation (inflammation of what?)

This is the weird part -- it all started when I had a tooth pulled -- they don't think they are related, but it is such a co-incidence. My ear, jaw, and neck hurts all the time. They have ruled out TMJ, Sjogrens, and Epstein-Barr, but cannot come up with what it is. I've got a fever all the time -- good days 99-100 worse days 103. My eyes stopped watering -- just about 2 years now -- now this week they are swollen and really burn and everything on me itches from my feet to my ears. My regular doctor just keeps saying I'm sorry we can't find out what this is, so he sends me to other doctors that say they will find it, but then nothing. Has anyone ever encountered this? I don't know what to ask them. Please give me your thoughts, I would greatly appreciate it.

Allergies will cause those readings. There are some people who are allergic to Niacin. It will cause the white cell counts to be off and the itching. Check out your diet and eliminate food products one at a time and see if anything changes. Read your food labels to see how much of any one vitamin you are getting. There are several vitamins that one should not exceed a maximum dose on or they will cause health problems.

Except moderately high WBC, the other results do not show anything strange for me.

I have some allergies like being allergic to: penicillin, nuts, mint, and there is something in hydrogen perioxide I just cannot stand. But all of these allergies are severe -- contact with them and you are unable to breathe, tongue swells, lips swell, you pass out -- you know the moment you've had contact with any of them. I've actually had to step away from many things because I've got diabeties. I do not need to take medication for it, but just watch what I eat and it stays around 108-117. Which they say is ok. The biggest problem I have is that my ear, throat and neck constantly hurt, eyes are swollen, and it hurts like heck to breathe. And when they do the blood tests the person always says -- you have a strange color of blood -- it is actually sort of pink. I don't know what that means, but I wish they wouldn't keep saying that. I am stumped.

Hi

To say that it hurts when you breath and your blood is pinkish would make me think that maybe your haemoglobin levels are low, but from the results they look fine.

You may have a respiratory infection that is affecting your breathing and the circulation.

You may have an inflammatory process going on based on the ESR.That could even explain the high WBCs.
