My husband had been taking Wellbutrin SR 150mg twice a day for 4 weeks. As the weeks go by he finds everything to irritate him to the point that he is out of control - agitation !! This is not like my husband. Will this wear off or will this get better?

It might wear off, it's too soon to tell. I was given Wellbutrin, which worked fine as an antidepressant, but did not reduce my general anxiety (did not increase it either, though my dose was lower). There are other meds that are more effective against anxiety that he could try if this particular side effect does not wear off.

I just started Welbutrin not even a week ago. So far so good with me. BUT, if you go to most any search engine and type in the drug name, you can find lots of boards like these. I did this before starting Welbutrin and found that irritability, aggravation, anxiety, and sometimes even abuse has been caused by this drug, so be careful. I'm not really worried about me getting mean or anything because I'm so darned passive anyway. Might even do me some good..LOL

ljKaiser96,
Yes!the Wellbutrin is causing the problems, that your husband is having.
I have been on Wellbutrin SR.for years, and I had the side effects also.Mine went away, but my Dad's didn't. He couldn't control his anger at all. As a matter of fact he ended up hitting me.Which he has never done in his life. I have my parents living with me.My Dad & I don't always see eye to eye,but he never did anything like ,that before. That was 2 years ago.So I think maybe your husband ,or you should contact his Dr. I wouldn't let it go. I still take Wellbutrin, and don't have a problem with them any more at all.My Dr.justgave me some new samples of Wellbutrin XL today. I have had to take 100mgs 3x a day. do to stomach problems. Now they have this new one out ,that you only have to take it once a day. It's 300mgs. It covers the whole day, because it is like the SR's only it will last longer. I hope it works, because then I'll only have to take it once a day instead of trying to remember to take it 3x. I hope things go well for you & your husband.

Take Care!!
