Consult a doctor, I don't know anyone who has had success with herbal remedies. Maybe someone else here has some other experiences with it.

I am on St.Johns wort. I have been on prescription meds for over 10 years and got tired of the side effects. I stopped my prescription meds and switched to vitamins/minerals/herbs.

I take 2 capsules 3 x/dy everyday. I have not discussed this with my doctor yet, but I will next visit.

I also take Kava kava, and ginko biloba along with many other vitamins. I feel great.

hairjewels,
How long did it take for the SJW and vitamins to kick in?
I've been reading a book by Joan Mathews and she lists a variety of vitamins and minerals that are supposed to reduce depression and anxiety. I was thinking about giving her program a try.

You generally have to take St. Johns wort for about a week before you'll notice an effect. It has to build up in your system. I'm not sure if its the same for Kava Kava, Valerian, etc.. But I've had some good results with St. Johns wort in the past.

I stopped my prescription meds in July and started the vitamins/minerals/herbs around August. I don't think it took long. I don't remember going through any depression during the changeover.

i noticed results from SJW on the first day..albeit wiht a 10g dosage!! The dose you guys take in the us is too small guys!!
I also took it in conjunction with b vitamins which more than doubles its effectivness

Yeah, you do take it every day, and it can sometimes take weeks to start working. I tried it and it did not work for me, but lots of people do find it helpful. I hope it works out well for you.
