Lots of doctors getting trained now for balloon sinuplasty since December.
Its a new procedure where they thread a balloon into your nose, then inflate it, making the opening larger. Since there is no cutting of tissue, sinus membranes are preserved. Less/no bleeding, in most cases no nasal packing required. Go do a search on balloon sinuplasty or go to the Acclarent, Inc. website.
Of course this procedure is not for everyone, ie. those who have a deviated septum, polyps, etc. will probably still have to get conventional surgery. Even though its FDA approved, its still relatively new and long term benefits are still under study.
