I've been on Lamictal for about 7 weeks now. I was ok for the first few weeks, but now I'm having terrible side effects. I started with a rash on my hands, which has been progressing for the past week to my elbows and my back and neck. My neurologist is out for the rest of the week, but they made an emergency appt for me with the other neurologist he resides with. I've also been dizzy and had a total lack of coordination. I've had abdominal pains, almost like menstrual cramps, but they're not. I also had a fever, a sore throat, swollen glands, and terrible muscle pain. So I know that these are possible side effects of Lamictal... are these serious?? It's 4 days before prom and I look terrible with this rash.. and im worried that it won't go away. Please help and maybe give me pointers for getting rid of this. And is this serious? I'm worried that it might be.

VERY SERIOUS (about the med, not your health)

Lamictal Rash is an indication you can't tollerate it and need to be (usually) removed from it.

Meanwhile; Neutral soaps, avoid HOT showers or baths and constricting clothing.

You NEED to see another Doc about this ASAP, as in Yesterday!

As in going away, no it won't go away quickly. It takes a bit of time sadly. This is where seeing another Neuro TODAY may help after the prom; but not before for the rash.

I saw my neurologist *yes its been a few weeks* and my rash is finally almost gone. He took me off of Lamictal immediately and my rash SLOWLy (very slowly) started to go away. All of my other side effects have gone away which is good, but I am now waiting for a new Medication... I"m on Keppra as a back up (I maxed out of it a a while ago) and my seizures are coming back... terrible alternative unfortunately.
