I'm on 150mg. of Effexor XR. I missed my dose yesterday and I have felt bad ever since. I don't know if I'm getting sick or if it's because I missed a dose. It started with a terrible migraine and has progressed to my stomach hurting, chills and excessive fatigue. I just feel horrible. I very rarely get ill, so that's why I was wondering if this is because I forgot to take my pill or it I really am sick. Thanks for any input you may have.

From everything I've read/heard, if you miss a dose of Effexor, it can make you feel terrible. Mostly, I've heard of headaches and a general sick feeling with accompanying aches & pains. I hope you start feeling better

If I miss a dose by a few hours I get dizziness, nausea, loss of balence, electric shock sensations running through my brain, and loss of feeling in my hands and toes..........I'm not looking forward to having to come off this stuff!

I have been on it for about six months. I tried going off of it on my own, but I got dizzy, and my vision became screwed up (I normally have 20/20 vision). It felt like my eyes were shrinking. I got scared, and took a dose, then the weird symptoms went away. I decided to stay on it for the time being because my mother passed away recently and it helps me sleep..BUT - what on earth does this stuff do to you that if you try to go off of it you have such nasty withdrawal symptoms?

It's suppose to help me! (rolls eyes) But effexor XR worked for me.. for awhile, about 10 or 11 months. But if I missed a dose it was freaky. I couldnt function, couldnt think. Headaches, chills, doing nothing but sleep, yea that sounds about right for a missed dose. It's really strange but if I was maybe a few hours late in taking my daily pill, when i would move my eyes from left to right it sounded like I was hearing static, but it was only inside of my head. And my vision was kind of blurry and swimming, some what simular to when coming out of a drunken evening when your sobering up. (I stopped drinking, bad things come of it) But now I am taking Wellbutrin XL 150mg and Effexor XR 150mg, I think my doc is going to start and wain me from Effexor to Wellbutrin, I might be able to avoid all of those nasty withdrawl side effects, but i doubt it.

Thanks for your replies everyone. I am feeling much better. Believe me I'll never miss another dose! It made me feel horrible! I just wasn't sure if it was me or the missed dose, but I really think it was the missed dose. Especially since some of you had the same effects. I really appreciate everyone's advice.
Thanks,
Tanya

good idea
this is one med that you cant afford to accidentaly miss taking.
i am off it now, but it took alot for me to get here, once while out of town on business, i forgot my prescription at home, i wasnt able to take my effexor for 4 DAYS!!!, when i got back on that 4th day, i was so sick that it took me 3 days to recover. Beleive me, i never made that mistake again, i went so far as to keep a seven day supply in my vehicle and a seven day supply in my shaving kit just so i would never end up in that predictament again. i thought i was litterally going to die. That was one of the determining factors in my deciding to quit the stuff.

I have been on Effexor for about a year now. I am trying to stop taking it. I am down to about 37.5 mg every two days. This is one of the hardest things I have ever done. The side effects are very bad. I decided to stop because I want to sleep all the time, and the weird dreams are bad. Wish me luck.

Hi cph32,
Best of luck in your attempt to stop taking this drug. The side effects you mentioned...were they when you were taking it regularly, or when you tried to stop? I have had VERY bizarre dreams while on it, and it seems I never can get enough sleep.

I'm finding this thread very interesting. I was late with my dose of Effexor and the next day I thought I was gonna croak. Flu-like feeling. Hurt all over. Tummy issues. Could it have been from that? The only thing that makes me think not is that I had a pretty high fever. Unless that's yet another side effect. Went to the doc and no infection. Any thoughts????
