I've had chest pressure and 3 palpitations since late october. I've been twice to the ER. The doctors have done 3 ecg, 2 chest x-rays and blood work everything has been negative till now. My heart rate recently has been jumping around from about 65 to about 85 half an hour later. The doctors have said it's nothing and it might be anxiety. I'm going crazy with what's happened the past few months. I just want to know what you guys think it might be.

dart,

There's nothing abnormal about fluctuating arond 65-85 BPM.

The pressure is of more concern, but the percepotion of pressure could be the result of overconcentrating on what's happening to your heart and the anticipation of palpitations.

As Lenin says from 65 to 85 could be normal and just anxiety. Light exercise too could push it up from the rest level. You don't mention your blood pressure (or age) but I'm sure that has been looked into. If you do have an elevated BP then perhaps a stress test would be the next step. As you know palpitations can be easily brought on by anxiety. The palpitations (3 you say - I assume you mean 3 episodes with them), and your visits to ER, indicate you should keep on until you get a proper cardio diagnosis.

thanks for the replies, Im 20 and my bp is 120/80. There's no family history of heart conditions and that makes me feel better but I still hate having palpitations.

Your heart rate and blood pressure are pretty much in perfect range. Chest pressure could definitely be anxiety....though 3 palpitations in 6 months is totally nothing to worry about. When you say palpitations, what exactly do you mean? Just feeling your heart beating quickly? Or a flip-flopping, start-stopping feeling like a PVC? If it's a PVC, those are harmless and some people feel them all day every day. I get them about twice a month.

Anyway, like I said, it sounds like your ticker is in great shape. I have had multiple PVCs in a row, my heart rate spike up to 210, and my cardiologist told me I have nothing to worry about (though I am now on a beta blocker).
