Yes I have had them. It was like 10 to 15 years agao. This time around though my anxiety reared itself in a different manner.
However when i had these it was always within the first 2 hours of going to sleep. I would wake up from my heart beating so fast. It would pound so hard and fast that it would make my chest move ( I am female so you get the drift)My chest would hurt and I had what I called heart pains. Sometimes I would wake up to one of my arms just jumping off the bed from the shakes. That was the freakiest thing. At times I would literally jump out of bed from a deep sleep all in one motion. scared and breathing fast and my heart pounding arms shaking. I could not beleive this was anxiety at first. I could not believe once I was sleeping soundly how in the freakin world I could be woke up in this state when there was no stressfull event at the time. But it was anxiety....and it past. I haven't had those kinds of episodes since I divorced my ex. Hmmmmmmmm hehe I just had to add that. He was no picnic to live with.
This time however my anxiety has come back in relation to my daughter being dx'ed with a chronic illness. Now my anxiety is present differently.
What are your symptoms?
Hang in there....:)

I had one of these attack 2 weeks ago tonite. I had been having bad anxiety all day. Went to bed about 10 and woke up at 1am with my heart beating out of my chest. My arms were numb and i couldnt breath. Called my mom she then called an ambulance. Spent the nite at the hospital, had a bunch of test ran but they say its anxiety and it was a nocturnal panic attack, i didnt know they exsisted. Now before bed i take an ativan and that helps me sleep through the nite. I worry EVERYDAY EVERYMINUTE of the day about my heart. If i get a chest pain, an arm pain, a back pain i always think its my heart. Right now its off and on jaw pains but i think its due from my mouth being clinched so much that its hurting my jaw. I cant get it out of my head that my heart is bad and these are all signs that i am going to have a heart attack or i am having one. They gave me paxil cr, i wont take it, just got some cymbalta today probably wont take it either, im a chicken of medicines i dont want all the side effects that may come with it. I guess with all the stress my stomache is in knots and making acid come up in my throat, it has been burning and hurts so she gave me meds for that to. I want to feel better but im scared of the medications.

I had them off and on for about 5 years. Couple times a week sometimes. I was never dreaming. That I knew of anyway. I just found it so wierd that when asleep I would have a panic attack like that. But ppl do have them. Yes my heart would pound and feel like it was skipping beats all the time. I eventually had a holter monitor test done. I think that is what is was called. I had a heart monitor hooked up to me 24 hours a day for a month. Everytime I felt like my heart was pounding or skipping beats I would press a button. After a month of some of the worst nocturnal panic attacks ever. Everything came out fine. Nothing concerning or worrysome. Crazy it seemed that all I felt inside and everything was normal. But I pushed to accept it.... and that helped be me a ton.

Confused,
How long have you been having anxiety attacks. I have had all your symptoms before, and trust me I know how you feel. I took paxil for about 4 months then I quit and decided to cure myself naturaly I am much much better than before, BUT I still have anxity and occationaly Nocturnal panic attacks and anxiety attacks. I do not take any med's although I do keep a bottle of ataven in my bed stand just in case I got about a month ago after my last panic attack and I have not used one.
they say it takes 28 days to form a habit and Vis versa, SO try not to think about your heart for the next little while and I mean try. If I think I am having a heart attack I get up and start running to prove to myself other wise. keep me posted

I use to have them years ago and they went away so did the worry of my heart. All this started about a month ago when i thought i was having a heart attack and ended up at the er, well since that day my heart is on my mind all the time again, so i am stressing ALL day about it. I dont really want to go on any medication other than the ativan, it usually helps settle me down and i dont take it more than 1 time a day and that is just .5 mg usually just at bed time. Now i did just take one a few hours ago, the acid reflux started, the jaw pains started so i got anxious and had to take one, i am feeling better now. I would like to work this out by no anti-dep at all if i can. I do go to a counslor next tuesday so maybe that will help. I read up on all these anti-dep and they sounds HORRIBLE and SCARY!!!!!!!!!!! I know they say the symptoms fade but i dont think i can live with them for a day, there is no way i can do it for up to 3-4 weeks. I just have to find a way to reassure myself that my heart is fine and this is all stress and if i quit for one minute that i might feel ok.
Hi, yes I've had these a few times. I'll wake up and feel like I'm choking and
can't swallow and then once I finally realize I can breathe my heart is racing so much I can't fall asleep and I'm afraid if I do I might die in my sleep. Very scary!
