I am pretty new to the board and have been reading thru lots of the posts in the last couple of days. Am on week 8 of tx and really glad to find this site, good to know we are not alone because you sure feel like it. I have read to stay away from Alchohol and drugs. I live in Vancouver BC and now am kinda concerned as on weekends and after work I have been using BC bud (maryjane) to help with the nausea. is this a no no ? I meant to ask the dr and did not, but will on my next visit end of May (which will be the 3 month test to see if working) thx, Deb

The research indicates that marijuana helps people stay on treatment longer. That's the good news.
There are very effective anti-nausea medications, oral THC is one and Zofran is another.
The bad news is that marijuana, like any other smoked plant, increases fibrosis leading to cirrhosis of the liver, reduces oxygen in the blood, and puts you at risk for a number of infections by reducing your resistance. This, combined with anemias caused by the treatment, can invoke a medical emergency.
You decide.

Hey Deb, cirrhosis is very bad and can lead to the worst word on the planet......transplant. Oh, and the doctor will say no weed for you ( i know because i asked). So do yourself a favor and tell you doctor you get nausea and he/she will hook you up with some powerful stuff.
