i was wondering if it is bad if a girl cant get a tampon in. Ive had my period since i was 11 and now im 16 and i still cant get one to work. I try putting it in the farthest back hole (not the anus though), and it just seems not to go in all the way. I can only seem to get the tip of it in.
I was wondering also if a girl cant use tampons that she can still have sex?

idk its a little confusing..theres no one to talk to about this.

thanks.

You just need to relax really, if you're stressed about what you're doing, you'll be tense and inserting a tampon will be much more difficult. Try with smaller tampons for lighter periods first and then work your way up if you need one for a heavier flow.

Let me just say that if you can't figure out the tampon, you're probably not going to be having sex anytime soon. When I first started using them, my doctor even recommended getting some KY jelly to help ease the tampon in. It's not self evident at first, but I doubt you have any condition that prevents the tampon from fitting (I was using them by the time I was 13). Also, make sure you're using the applicator correctly, and that it's only the cotton that's inside you, not the cardboard or plastic applicator. Finally, sometimes it helps to stand with one leg up on the tub or toilet to get a better angle. Good luck and read the directions again if you still have trouble.

Also, push it in with it angled toward your lower back, not straight up. You can look at a picture of the side view anatomy of a woman's vagina to see what I'm talking about. I agree about relaxing...there are very strong muscles that could be preventing you from being able to insert the applicator fully...the top half of the applicator needs to be fully inserted inside your vagina before you push the plunger (the bottom half of the applicator) all the way, so the plunger is completely inside the applicator tip. Sometimes, if you are too dry inside (like if you try too many times to get a tampon in, you can get dried out), it doesn't go in as easily and some KY jelly helps it glide in better.
