View Full Version : Atenolol or Toprol?????? Need Help...

I have one Dr. (allergist/asthma doc) who thinks I should be switched (from propranolol) to atenolol and one Dr. (family doc) who thinks I should be switched to Toprol - this is due to the propranolol causing exercise induced asthma. Besides the SOB during significant exertion and fatigue, the propranolol has really done the job for me (PVCs and Tachycardia - either IST or SVT). Switching in general has me freaked. But then when I get conflicting opinoins..makes me even more nervous.

During my time on this board I seem to remember a lot of negative things about atenolol - having to do with PVCs and tachy.

Anyone here that can give some insight to one or both of these drugs and which may be best for me?

My cardiologist is out on leave and the covering cardio is pretty booked. I do trust my Dr. but I know she isnt a heart specialist even tho she is very smart and thorough.

Id really love some thoughts here guys....I am very anxious about this.
