Hi, I am new to this site. I am here becuase my FIL, has Lung Cancer
(2yrs now) and now it has spread to his brain. He is starting to give up his fight. My husband is taking care of him now. Which keeps him away from home alot. But, I totally understand that his Dad needs him right now. My husband is soooo close to his Dad and I am just so affraid of what is going to him, how he is going to get through the passing of his Dad.

My dad passed away suddenly 1 month before we found out that my FIL had cancer. The past 2 years have been a total blur for us. I hope we are able to bounce back after all of this heartache we have had resently.

I am here hoping to find understanding from people who are going through the same thing.

Thank you all for listening !

Hello, I am so sorry to hear of another cancer patient maybe losing the battle. You have found a wonderful site here, full of so many loving, supportive people, some cancer patients, some caregivers, but all going through what you and your husband are. I lost both my parents in a week (my Dad was almost 86, my Mom 75) three years ago, and I still miss them. Just know that lots of people will have your FIL and you and your husband in their prayers daily. Please post here and pour your heart out if necessary. God bless you and keep you.

Hi,
So sorry to hear of your FIL having cancer and your dad's passing so quickly 2 years ago. I know how hard it is for your husband to be away from the home caring for his dad. My FIL had quad bypass in June 2001 and then a month later was diagnosed with Melanoma cancer and died in Sept. 2001. My husband and I rarely saw each other and it was usually in passing...I had the day shift with my FIL while my husband worked and my husband was the one who woke up @5am to get ready to take his dad to brain radiation and then drive to work and then when he got home late that evening he would stop by his dad's house and then I would go home with our boys and call it a night but my husband stayed for quite awhile...I sometimes wonder if all that stress has caused my husband's SCLC considering he was never a smoker..you never know. It seems like your FIL is a fighter...2 years with lung cancer by statistics is good from what we have read and been told. I hope you can stay strong to be supportive for your husband...which sounds like you are very understanding too. Is your FIL doing brain radiation or did he opt for no more treatment?
Stay strong but when the tears come it is understandable...Take care of yourself and your husband! Keep us posted....
Kim
