Hi JJ and all others who want to enjoy my blessings,
BHT is the food preservative butylated hydroxytoluene. It is used in foods containing oil in order to keep them from becoming oxidized and rancid. In the body, at the dosage of 250mg to 2 grams daily, it prevents atherosclerosis completely regardless of the numbers. Please read my post of 7-22 "a case history" on the old high cholesterol message board under my name Bob Travis. For an unknown reason, it plummets the numbers. I purchased it from Twinlabs until they stopped botteling it. I then went to life services and bought BHT+ which I thought would be the same, and maybe better. Unfortunately my wife had a blockage in the inomate artery where it joined the subclavian artery. This artery is a main trunk from which the corotid arteries and brachial (arm) arteries get their blood. This was present over a year ago before we knew my wife was hyperlipidemic. She had a stent put in in sept. and had a violent reaction to a blood thinner called plavix. Her lipids went crazy, and I thought that BHT no longer worked. Then I found out that the ascorbyl palmitate displaces BHT in oil. In order to absorb bht, you must have some fat or oil in your food, and you should take it with your meals. I replaced it with straight BHT from smartbodies and you see what has happened. To learn more about BHT, go to: Http://WWW.smarteats.com/bht-order.htm .I have researched atherogenesis, BHT, hyperlipidemia, etc. because of my wife, and in order to share whatever we can find that helps. I took 3 years of premed, including chem, biology, zoology and dynamic anatomy and physiology before changing my major to electrical and mechanical engineering. This has allowed me to understand the clinical trials and abstracts that I have studied. I am presently writing a complete case history of my wife's case, and a summary of my ongoing research that will have total "snow" removed for the layman. When complete, I will include it in an attachment to anyone requesting it on my E-mail. Believe me, I have learned a lo, and it will take me about 2 months more to finish. I do want others in trouble to try it and give me feedback on the results. It's cheap, and has no side effects. Until then, God bless....Oldguy
